Can EpiLight treat all colors of hair and skin?
The ideal candidate for EpiLight hair removal has light skin and dark, course hair.  Our experience has found that it usually takes less treatments for these individuals to see great results.  Currently, we do not perform EpiLight on very dark skin types, nor blonde or white hair because the energy from the EpiLight is absorbed by dark pigments, if the hair has no color, it will not absorb the energy and the hair will not be removed, similarly,  very dark skin types could have their skin damaged by the energy.

What is EpiLight treatment like?
When Epilight's pulse of light is delivered to the hair, you may feel a mild sting or pinch similar to the snap of a rubber band.  No local anesthesia or pain medication is required, however, for patients with a very low tolerance for pain, an over the counter topical anesthetic cream called ELA-Max can be used prior to the treatment.

How many treatments are required?
This varies depending upon your hair color, skin type and the location of the hair on the body.  Most patients require three to six treatments.

Are there any side effects?
You may experience some short-term side effects.  This may include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which usually goes away within a few days.  In rare instances, there may be blistering.

Are there any restrictions on my activities after treatment?
You can return to work the same day and resume all regular activities.  You should limit sun exposure, which is always a good idea.

How does EpiLight compare with commonly used hair removal methods?
Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods that must be repeated on a regular basis.  Hair removal with EpiLight offers longer lasting results.

How does EpiLight treatment compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to destroy them one at a time.  Electrolysis often requires years of treatment at regular intervals.  EpiLight non-invasively treats hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously.  So, in a few minutes, EpiLight can effectively treat an area that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
