Please call (210) 615-9494 to schedule your microdermabrasion appointment. At your scheduled time, you will be given a very short new patient form which asks questions about your skin goals, and information about your current skin care.
A nurse will bring you back to one of the microdermabrasion rooms and ask that you cleanse your face, and answer any questions you may have about the procedure. Dr. Loudon's Facial Cleanser and towels are available at the sink area. After you have cleansed your face, you will be asked to dry your face and lay down. Some patients like to add a peel to the microdermabrasion procedure (we have seen some very dramatic lightening of brown spots when a peel accompanies a microdermabrasion procedure.) Please let Dr. Loudon, or her nurses, know that you want a peel before the procedure begins, as the peel is performed prior to the microdermabrasion procedure.
Dr. Loudon, or her nurses will adjust the settings of crystals flow and vacuum suction on the microdermabrasion unit and begin the procedure at the forehead. They will assess your skin's response to the settings and adjust them accordingly. They will cover your entire face, and if you desire, your neck, chest and back as well, for an additional fee.
Once the entire area has been covered, the remaining crystals are removed, by either vacuuming them up, or wiping them off. At this time, a refreshing spray of Vitamin C will applied to your face to refresh, soothe and revitalize your skin, then Lipid Drops will be used to add additional moisture and an added softness to your new skin. For an additional fee, an Oxygen Hydrating Gel Mask can be applied to your face, prior to the vitamin C and Lipid Drops, for added benefit. Next, M.D. Forte SPF 30 sunscreen is gently applied to your face to protect your new skin from the sun. Now you can put make up on, if desired, and the procedure is completed. Please note that many of our microdermabrasion clients are male, especially when the desired outcome is improving acne scars.
Procedure times:
The microdermabrasion procedure on the face is completed in approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
A peel is completed in approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
The oxygen hydrating gel mask is completed in approximately 20 minutes.
